The mission of First Baptist’s adult ministry is to create authentic, engaging community where adults can form deep connections with Christ, His Word, and His Church.
Our Wednesday Night Disciple-Life Programs run concurrent with the school year. Our current semester runs from August 16-November 15. We start at 6:00pm. Below are the classes being offered this semester.
Our Men’s Ministry is committed to helping every man discover and grow in his identity in Christ. We believe in equipping men to live by a higher standard through the transformational power of the Gospel. We seek to form a substantial community of men who are authentic and accountable to Christ, to their families and to each other. Join us as we become men after God’s own heart at First Baptist.
This developing ministry includes various opportunities for each man to become more like the man God intended for him to be. Activities include a men’s prayer time on Monday morning at 6:30am in the Prayer House and on Thursday morning at 6:30am at the Phenix Law Office. For fun and fellowship the men of Adult 8 play dominoes on Thursdays from 2 to 4pm in the Family Life Center room 107.
We offer various men’s Bible study groups on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm and also on Sunday morning at 9:15am.
We need men who are available and willing to help with the prayer ministry of our church. Contact Al Whitehead or Greg Estes.

We need men interested in helping with the Van Ministry.
Our Women’s Ministry includes women of all ages and stages. We know that women need fellowship and encouragement. Our ministry provides an encouraging community to equip and challenge you to live out your God-given potential on a daily basis. Together we connect with other women through Bible studies, worship and prayer, retreats, luncheons, mission projects, and more.
The women of First Baptist Church have many opportunities to participate in a variety of activities including craft ministry, luncheons, Bible studies, conferences, and prayer groups. The Women’s Missionary Group (WMU) has a regular schedule of events as listed below.
The retreat will be located at Stillwood Estate, Rhonda and Ladd Hoffman’s beautiful home in Carthage. Our speaker grew up in FBC-Kristin Vinson Odom, the daughter of Lori and Neal Vinson. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has started a counseling center at her church in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Our theme is “little gods: Eliminating Distractions.” Kristin will help us look at these little gods, the idols that creep into our lives and distract us from our worship of God alone.
Our worship leader is Teresa Harmening, who serves as pianist and worship leader at her home church Leesville Baptist, near Paris, Texas. Teresa is an amazingly talented musician who uses her gifts to share her love of God’s Word. We hope you will join us for this special time to be encouraged, inspired, and challenged–and also a time to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.
As a part of our retreat, we will also be hosting a WorldCrafts Market. WorldCrafts, a compassion ministry of WMU, develops sustainable, fair-trade businesses among impoverished people around the world. Their vision is to offer an income with dignity and the hope of everlasting life to every person on earth. You will be able to shop with purpose and support WorldCrafts artisans.
Potter’s Hands meets the 1st Tuesday of month at 5:30pm in the Family Life Center Dining Hall for different service related projects.
